The Narrowboat, Weedon - pub and restaurant with canalside dining and excellent, locally sourced, freshly cooked food. The chef here (Kirsty Collins) got through to the quarter finals of Masterchef in 2016.
The Maltsters, Badby - a few villages away but worth a visit if you're a fan of the television series 'First Dates'. It's owned by Merlin, the cocktail maker and barman on the show. Fantastic cocktails and good, honest, home-cooked food.
The Butchers Arms, Priors Hardwick - a few villages away, a charming restaurant with Portuguese influences. Lunch time set menu is very good value for money whereas a la carte is a bit pricier. Charming waiters and an excellent wine selection. A good place to visit on a special occasion.
The Brinjol Indian Restaurant, Weedon - excellent sit down restaurant or takeaway. Walkable from The Hobbit House (1.2 miles along the canal).
Weedon House Chinese and Fish n Chip Shop - takeaway only, but highly recommended.
Skylark Farm Cafe, Staverton - lovely countryside views and excellent farmhouse breakfasts. Closed on Saturdays, but open 9am-4pm most other days.
Granny's Cafe, Weedon - try a 4 mile circular walk from the Hobbit House, stopping at Granny's half way for breakfast!
GET OUTDOORS AND ACTIVE
There are lots of waterside and country walks; there are two lovely woodlands within a 4 mile drive - the bluebells in May are amazing, a carpet of blue!
Dodford still has an open ford which kids (and adults) can paddle in.
The canal is nearby, offering a peaceful stroll whilst the narrow boats sail past.
Alternatively, Stoke Bruerne Canal Museum is perfect to grab a bite to eat at the canal side pubs before heading off on a canal boat ride.
Day boats are available to hire if you'd rather pilot one yourself! See inlandnavigators.co.uk
Amanda the owner of The Hobbit House at Honeymoon Cottage is a qualified Reiki Master and can offer relaxing and balancing Reiki treatments at £45 for 45 mins.
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
